NASARU is a Maasai word that means rescue. The organization was founded by an indigenous woman who has grown up in rural Kajiado and experienced first hand the impacts of climate change vulnerabilities on woman and girls.Established in 2012 NASARU women is committed to creating sustainable opportunities for indigenous pastoralist women economically, socially and politically. The organization's goal is to empower the indigenous pastoralist Maasai women through alternative dryland livelihood creations, active community table-banking, and climate-smart adaptation rangeland programs.
