Farook Mohammed is a contemporary visual artist and cultural leader from Gqeberha, South Africa. Since 2019, he has dedicated his work to using art as a tool for Pan-African unity, education, and social transformation. He created the Makoti Project, a cultural masterpiece that doubles as an educational platform addressing gender-based violence (GBVF) and promoting men’s education. Through Makoti, Farook has empowered fellow artists by providing exhibition opportunities during the Covid-19 pandemic, earning him the Mzansi Arts and Media Award (2021) for Best Exhibition Events Organizer. In 2024, he was honoured as a MIPAD Global Top 100 Most Influential People of African Descent, and he continues to receive global nominations including the Aurora Prize and Global Arts Prize.
