CYU works at the grassroots level by engaging communities in peacebuilding, security, and democratic participation processes aimed at reducing violence and strengthening social cohesion. The organization brings together youth, women, religious leaders, local authorities, and other community actors to identify root causes of conflict and develop locally owned solutions through dialogue, civic education, and active nonviolence. CYU focuses on transforming tensions into opportunities for cooperation by strengthening interfaith and intercultural understanding, supporting trauma healing, and promoting accountability and justice through peaceful means. Rather than replacing existing structures, CYU empowers and mentors community groups to become sustainable agents of peace and social transformation. Through sustained community engagement, advocacy, and capacity strengthening, CYU has helped reduce mistrust among divided groups, improved collaboration between citizens and local leaders, and encouraged inclusive participation in decision-making processes. The organization’s work continues to foster safer, more resilient communities where people can address grievances constructively and pursue development without violence, exclusion, or fear.
